SYUCT is the first batch of bachelor's degree granting authority in China, first known as Shenyang School of Chemical and Mechanical Technology in 1952. In 1953, the school was changed its name to Shenyang School of Chemical Industry. It was elevated to an undergraduate college, officially named Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology in 1958 and changed its name to Liaoning University of Science and Technology in 1960. In 1970 the school was relocated to Fushun and renamed as Fushun University of Chemical Technology until 1978.Then it returned to Shenyang and reclaimed the name Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology and. In 2010, it was renamed Shenyang University of Chemical Technology.

SYUCT currently offers 57 undergraduate programs, 13 primary and 53 secondary postgraduate programs. It has 14,000 full-time students and more than 900 teachers including 400 professors and associate professors. SYUCT owns 2 national centers of experimental teaching and more than 20 provincial key disciplines, lab and centers.

International Education

SYUCT has been accepting international students studying in China since 1953. Students from over 20 countries and regions study for degrees, Chinese language, short term training's, or exchange programs. The International Education School was established in 2007 to assist and help international students adapt the camp life, deal with daily study, visa and activity affairs and get better improved in the university.
